| Starting from one primary school, Kanga Schools then expanded to 5 schools. Iin less than three years, there are now 28 primary schools benefitting from this project. These schools are located all over Sierra Leone - some in the capital Freetown, but most of them are in the provinces. |

Primary schools receive books of fiction and junior reference, as well as junior encyclopedias. Where donations make it possible, we also include texts specifically for primary schools, especially English readers.
During the year, we collect quarto exercise books when these are on sale, almost 30,000 in January 2011! Each shipment includes boxes of stationery for the primary schools - boxes filled with exercise books, pencils, erasers, geometry sets, calculators and other classroom equipment.

In the last year, each primary school received a shipment of laminated wall charts for times tables and alphabet sounds; plus large packs of laminated worksheets for classroom use of times tables together with special marker pens (so worksheets wipe clean).

Many of the schools do not have access to electricity to power the computers they have been sent. In the last three years, the Kanga project has provided generators to 61 schools, and all primary schools benefitted.
As many schools do not have proper facilities to store and display the books, Kanga Schools “partners” with them to build school libraries.
